Posted by The Nation on Sunday, February 18, 2019 10:00:56 The Dubai Municipality has announced plans to build a massive urban development project called Bahia Urbana that will include hotels, shopping malls, a park and a riverfront park.
The project is expected to create between 25 million and 30 million square meters of land in Dubai, the country’s largest city.
The project is part of the countrys strategy to modernize the capital of the Middle East and North Africa.
Dubai Municipality chief executive Mohammed Al-Marri said that Bahia, the name of the city, will help the government improve the lives of its residents.
“We have the ambition to create new homes and housing, to help improve the quality of life for our citizens,” he said.
The city will feature new shopping malls and hotels, new parks and green spaces, a water park, and a water-based eco-system that will feed Dubai’s rivers and provide drinking water to the city.
The Bahia project is being spearheaded by the Dubai Economic Development Authority (DEDA).
DEDA is the citys economic development agency, tasked with attracting and supporting the city’s development.
The DEDP, which is headed by former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker, is expected the main developer in the project.
Dubay Economic Development Minister Hamdan al-Mansour said that the city will create 10 million jobs, creating jobs for more than 4 million residents.
“We want to create jobs, create jobs that are not only good for the local population, but for the future generations as well,” he told reporters.
Dubadabadi, which stands for Dubai Area, will be home to around 5 million residents and is one of the fastest growing cities in the Middle Eastern country.
The city will grow to about 10 million residents by 2030.
Dubaida, the largest city in the country, is also one of Dubai’s biggest and most ambitious projects.
Dubai will expand its infrastructure and provide new services, such as new high-speed rail, to the Dubai-Essex International Airport.
